Maplytics helps plot CRM records on a map using the above-mentioned methods. However, if a user wants to plot records using an external file without adding the records to the CRM, he can use the ‘Plot from File’ method and achieve the same.
Users can select the File option from datasource and upload a file from the system.
Users have to map the Name as a mandatory field. For Tooltip Mapping, users need to select up to 5 attributes that will appear on the Tooltip Card. Up to 5 attributes can be selected to appear on hovering over the pushpin as well.
In the Address Section, users need to map the address values and while mapping Latitude and Longitude values is must. In case user doesn’t have latitude and longitude values then they could map the Street, City, County, and State values. In case attributes have not been selected, a prompt will appear directing the user to map some elements if not Latitude and Longitude.
Note:
· In case the Latitude and Longitude are blank, Maplytics will geocode the records based on the mapped address values, it will exhaust the transaction limit offered by Bing Maps.
· The user can save these geo-codes against their data using the Export to Excel option to avoid following the process again the next time for the same file.
Records from file will appear as follows. The tooltip card with selected attributes appears on the left. Selected attributes can be viewed by hovering over the pushpins. The detailed data from the file can be viewed at the bottom.
All the Actions that are performed on the CRM Data plotted on the map can be performed on the data plotted in this manner from the external files. Some of the actions are as follows.
Data Categorization
Users can choose any attribute for the selected entity to categorize the data from the file that has been plotted on the map and visualize the pushpins color-coded based on the selected attribute. The category card will further help the user to differentiate between the pushpins.
On plotting records from the file, users can select up to 3 categories and categorize the plotted data. More on this can be read in the Category section of the manual.
Export to Excel
The option in the Data Grid saves the details of the plotted records in Excel.
More about it can be explored in the Data Grid in the Detail Map section of the Manual.
Create New Record
The records from the file plotted on the map can be added to CRM. The records can be mapped against the entities defined in the configurations.
Note: User can select file as the data source only when using the By Location, By Region, or By Drawing search options.
