Users can plan travel routes using this Route option by providing an Origin, a Destinations, and Stops in between.
Users can access the Route Card directly by clicking on the Route button.
The record plotted on the map can be added to the route. Entering the record name within the stop will show suggestions of the record names matching the prompt entered by user. Address suggestions will also be provided to user based on the prompt.
Users can also add any record or address to the route by right-clicking on a pushpin to open the contextual menu and adding the pushpin as an origin a destination, or a stop within the route.
Users can also click on any pushpin to open the tooltip card, wherein the user can select the directions icon for adding the record to route as per convenience.
Travel Modes
The Route Panel currently supports three travel modes:
Travel by Car – Optimized for driving routes with traffic considerations.
Travel by Walking – Designed for pedestrian-friendly paths and walkways.
Travel by Public Transport – Provides routes using buses, trains, and other transit options.
Route Options
User can go ahead and click on the "Options" label to see the route options, allowing customization of route preferences. Some of these can be pre-selected from the configuration properties. After selecting or modifying any option, users must click on "Go" to apply the changes and update the route accordingly.
Distance Unit:
Users can select the route’s travel distance to be in miles or kilometers.
Optimize Route By:
Users can select the default optimization option for route. The optimized route could be the shortest in terms of travel time or travel distance.
Avoid Tolls:
When enabled, the route will be created excluding toll roads, helping users avoid additional costs during their journey.
Avoid Highways:
When enabled, the route will avoid highways.
When enabled, the route will be in the most efficient order to minimize travel distance or time, ensuring an optimized travel plan.
The Origin and Destination waypoints remain fixed, while intermediate waypoints are reordered for the best possible route.
Traffic: Displays real-time traffic updates and incorporates traffic conditions into route calculations, helping users make informed decisions and avoid delays.
Along the Route:
When enabled, users will be able to see the records that fall within a defined distance along the plotted route.
Default distance for along the route is 5 (distance unit as set by user). Users can set a distance value between 0 – 25, including decimal values.
For reference, If the value is fixed to 1 kilometer, the records within a kilometer of the route will only be plotted on the map.
Leave Now: The user can add the details of the time and date he wants to travel by selecting the Leave Now, Leave At, or Arrive By option.
Clicking on the Leave Now button expands additional options to determine the departure or arrival time:
● Leave Now: Automatically select the current device date and time as the departure time.
● Leave At: Allows users to choose a specific date and time for their departure.
Arrive By: Users can set a desired arrival date and time, and the system will calculate the ideal departure time accordingly.
Note: The Arrive By option is available only when the route includes exactly two waypoints
Add Destination: Multiple destinations can be added using the option.
Users can drag and reorder waypoints as needed to customize their route.
Clicking on Go plots the desired route.
The Driving Directions on the right provide turn-by-turn navigation directions between each waypoint along with the travel time and distance. The total travel time and distance are also visible for the entire route.
Users have the option to:
● Navigate the full route: This option is only available when the preferred map is set as Google Maps. Also, the number of stops in a route must be 10 or less.
● Navigate against each 2 waypoints: This option will navigate the 2 stops in the preferred maps – Google Maps/Waze Map/ Apple Maps which has been configured by user.
User can copy the route links and share it with anyone by pasting the links in mail or wherever needed.
Clear Route
The Clear Route option clears the stops from the Route panel as well as removes the plotted route form the Map.
Clicking on a clear route will prompt a confirmation message before clearing the route from the map.
Map Buttons:
The + - buttons on the map can be used to zoom in and out of the map.
The Map Mode displays various map styles available for Azure Maps such as Road, Grayscale, Night, and Terra for convenient viewing of plotted data and maps.
